BREAKING: JAMB 2026 Cut-Off Mark Is 160 For Universities — What It Really Means For FUOYE Aspirants

JAMB just wrapped up the 2026 Policy Meeting today, and the official minimum cut-off mark for universities is now 160.
Polytechnics and Colleges of Education got lower minimums as usual, but I want to talk to the people aiming for FUOYE — because there's a big trap in this announcement that nobody is explaining clearly.
THE 160 IS A MINIMUM, NOT THE CUT-OFF YOU NEED.
160 is the floor below which JAMB will not let any university admit you. It is NOT the score that gets you into FUOYE. Every university then sets its own cut-off (called the "departmental cut-off") on top of that.
For FUOYE specifically, last year:
- Medicine, Nursing, Law → 220+
- Engineering courses (incl. Software Engineering) → 200+
- Sciences (Biochem, Microbiology, etc.) → 180+
- Arts and Management → 170 to 180
- Education courses → 160 to 170
So if you scored 165 thinking "I made cut-off, I'm in" — pump the brakes. You made JAMB's cut-off. You have not made FUOYE's.
##WHAT YOU SHOULD DO RIGHT NOW
- 1. Check your JAMB score against your department's real FUOYE cut-off (drop your score and course in the comments — I'll tell you straight up where you stand).
- 2. If you're below your dream course's cut-off, start thinking about Change of Course / Change of Institution NOW. The portal opens within days and the good slots fill fast.
- 3. Start preparing for FUOYE Post-UTME. The screening is what actually decides admission, not just JAMB.
I'll drop a full Change of Institution guide and a Post-UTME prep plan this week. Follow this thread.
Drop your score below. Let's talk.
Quick advise
