Congratulations. Your matric number is loading. Now let me tell you what nobody tells freshers before they enter Oye-Ekiti. This is the same checklist I wished someone gave me. Print it, screenshot it, save it. You'll thank me by November. ## Week 1 after seeing your name — do these NOW - **Accept the admission on JAMB CAPS.** Log into your JAMB profile → CAPS → click *Accept*. People literally lose admission every year because they thought "the school will accept for me". They won't. - **Pay the FUOYE acceptance fee within the deadline.** Usually a 2-week window. Missing it = your slot goes to the next person on the list. - **Print your JAMB admission letter** (the new one, after acceptance) AND your **original JAMB result slip with your NIN on it.** Not the WhatsApp screenshot version. The original PDF. - **Get your NIN slip** if you don't have one. NIMC slip from any nearby centre — N0 from federal, N500 if you pay an agent. ## Documents to gather (physical originals + 6 photocopies of each) - Birth certificate / sworn age declaration - O'Level result(s) — every sitting you have - JAMB result + JAMB admission letter - LGA of origin certificate (from your local government, not online) - Acceptance fee receipt - 6 passport photos — **red background, plain shirt, no smile** (FUOYE rejects funny passports) - Medical fitness report (some departments require this — check your faculty) Put these in a clear folder. Don't lose them between home and Oye. People do. ## Accommodation — this is where 80% of freshers get scammed Read this section twice. - **Do NOT pay any landlord without seeing the room physically** — or via a verified service like [Tobix Accommodation](/accommodation) where I personally inspect every listing. - **Do NOT believe "rare hostel offer ending today"** on WhatsApp or Twitter. That offer doesn't exist. The room doesn't even exist. The "agent" doesn't exist. - **Do NOT send money to "agents" on social media** based on photos. The photos are stolen from real listings. - **Do NOT pay full year rent in cash.** Bank transfer with a written rent receipt only. Cash = no proof = no court case. - **Do NOT skip the inspection trip.** Take an okada, see the room, smell the room, flush the toilet, check the water tank. If you can't come for inspection, **use the Tobix verified service.** Every room is physically inspected by me, prices are honest, and landlords are real people I know by name. [Browse verified rooms here](/accommodation). ## What to buy before coming to Oye - First Things is very expensive in oye so if you have most things at home try and bring (**Also you can buy if you have a Better and good Transportation for it**) So - **Mattress** — buy in Oye, not at home. Transporting one from Lagos by bus is a nightmare. Decent foam mattress here is N25k–N55k. - **Bucket, kettle, padlock (with 2 keys), mosquito net** — basics - **Cooking stove** — gas (safer) or electric coil. NEPA is unreliable, plan for both(Nepa and Fuoye 👈😹👉). - **Power bank** — at least 20,000-50,000mAh(depends on how ànd what you will be using it for). You'll thank me by week 2. - **Extension box with surge protector** — Oye power surges have killed many laptops(also you will need it if u want to charge in a safe place). The N3,500 SP protector saves your N500,000 laptop. - **Padlock for your wardrobe** — yes, even with a trusted roommate. Trust is built, not assumed. ## What to NOT buy yet - **Textbooks** — wait. 90% of "required" books, your seniors will give you free or sell at N500. Don't buy anything until lectures start. - **Cooking pots in bulk** — your hostel kitchen space is tiny. Buy 1 pot, 1 frying pan, 2 spoons. Add later. - **Expensive electronics** — first see your hostel security situation. A flashy laptop in a shared room can vanish(Oye is kinda safe in some areas, but not all areas so ABEG OOO). - **Iron, kettle, fan in bulk** — buy 1, see how Oye power treats it before stocking up. ## Mental + admin checklist - **Find your matric number** as soon as fees are paid (FUOYE portal → My Profile **{Most times it till after matric or before first semester exam, Depends on the Situation of the school}**) - **Join your departmental WhatsApp group.** Post in any FUOYE Aspirants Telegram group asking for the link to your dept. Don't pay for "official groups" — they're all free. - **Locate the nearest market (Oja-Oba), pharmacy, ATM, and FUOYE clinic** to your hostel BEFORE classes start. - **Save these numbers:** FUOYE Security Hotline, your dept rep, your hostel landlord, one trusted senior. - **Open a student-friendly bank account** if you don't have one. OPay/PalmPay are useful but get one main bank (Access, GTB) for fees. - **Quiz advise** Finish your medical quickly to save stress (But it will stress you out So No Go Dull ) Be Sharp at all places No Go Dull ooo ## Money realities — what 1 semester really costs in Oye Rough monthly budget for a typical FUOYE student (2025/2026 data): - Food: N20,000 – N35,000 (It Still depends on you) - Transport (campus shuttle/keke): N6,000 – N10,000 - Data: N6,000 – N10,000 ( depends on you) - Toiletries + misc: N5,000 – N8,000 - Handouts + photocopying: N3,000 – N6,000 ( e pass oo 😂 wo oye fit dry you so guide 😂) - Emergency / unexpected: N5,000 – N10,000 ( see sha guide 😂) **Conservative monthly: ~N50,000.** Per semester (4 months): ~N200,000. Plus accommodation paid yearly. Tell your parents the honest figure — don't shortchange yourself trying to "manage" (No money anywhere) . ## On day-one safety - Don't move around with all your school fees in cash. Pay online, keep N10–20k cash maximum. - Avoid okada at night (after 9pm) unless absolutely necessary. - Your phone is the most-stolen item in Oye. Lock screen + Find My Device + don't flash it on public transport. - Make 2 close, reliable friends in the first week. You'll need them for emergencies. ## Things they don't tell you about FUOYE life - **First semester will stress you.** Even Education students. and all discipline. Just hold on — by 200L you'll have your rhythm. - **The campus shuttle isn't always on time.** Calculate transit time + 20 minutes for any lecture (Also learn how to trek 😂) . - **Lecturers vary wildly.** Some are angels, some… aren't. Your seniors know which is which. Ask. - **Politics on campus exists.** Don't get sucked in your first year. Focus on your CGPA (**Very Important**). - **Spiritual life matters here.** Whatever your faith, get a community early. It will sustain you mentally. ## **Unrelated** If you no promise **5.00** Get better side hustle or handwork that can fetch you money. - **Also Avoid NeoLife at all cost See hmmmmm..** (they will be asking if you have a side hustle so they likely want to lure you into it) **Also am not saying it bad if you're interested you can join**( But it will distract you in your First year)..... ## FAQs **Q: When does FUOYE resumption typically happen?** A: Watch the [/admission](/admission) page — I update resumption dates the day FUOYE Senate releases them. **Q: Do I need to come to FUOYE before classes start?** A: Yes — for hostel inspection, document submission, departmental clearance, and matriculation rehearsal. Plan to arrive **at least 2 weeks before resumption.** **Q: Is there on-campus accommodation for freshers?** A: Very limited. Most freshers stay off-campus around BC, Polytechnic Road, Adebayo Road.
